Greg McCalester

  • Greg has his Women's Artistic Gymnastics National Coach certification for USAG. This is the highest certification that USAG awards to Junior Olympic coaches. Greg was certified at this level based on his years of coaching experience and the success that his athletes have had up through national level competitions.

  • Greg is the founding member of Elite Gymnastics Academy.  He has been coaching competitive gymnastics in San Diego since moving here in

  • In addition to his role as owner of the gym, Greg coaches all levels of gymnastics at Elite.  Greg is the Bars Head Coach for the Girls Competitive Team.

  • "When I was a competitive gymnast, I couldn't wait to get to the gym each day I had practice.  I always knew that I wanted to be a part of gymnastics as long as I could.  Elite has allowed me to remain a part of gymnastics, a sport that I love, and for that I am lucky."

Carrie Pohlman


  • Carrie was a competitive gymnast since age 8.

  • Carrie is our team coordinator.

  • She currently coaches all girls team classes at Elite as well as being the Beam Head Coach for the Girls Competitive Team.

Josh Hodgson


  • Josh is our Vault Head Coach for the Girls Competitive Team.

  • Josh was a competitive gymnast and 3 time New York state vaulting champion.

  • He has been coaching gymnastics since 1994.

  • Josh has coached all levels of men's and women's gymnastics, and is also a licensed massage therapist.

  • Coach Josh says, "I walked into the gym when I was 6 and never left. I love all of the opportunities gymnastics opens for young athletes and life lessons they will use forever."

Ashleigh Stott


  • Ashleigh is the Head Strength Coach for our Girls Competitive Team.
  • She was a competitive gymnast for 13 years at SCEGA and competed as an Elite Gymnast for 5 years.
  • Ashleigh was a USA National Team member in 2006 and 2007
  • She is currently a student at San Diego State University studying to be a Physical Therapist.
  • Ashleigh is a member of the San Diego State University Dive Team.
  • Ashleigh says, "I have always had a very special place in my heart for the sport of gymnastics and intend to stay involved in every way that I can."

Kelsey Stadnick


  • Kelsey coaches our introductory, Level 2, 3 & 4 Girls Team.

  • She is our lower level Program Coordinator.

  • Kelsey started gymnastics at age 3 and competed for Tricks Gymnastics in Northern California through Level 6. She quit gymnastics when she was 12 to continue dance - Jazz, Ballet and Tap. She was in a dance ensemble in High School.

  • Kelsey says, "I missed gymnastics so much and am so happy to be back in the gym helping to teach other kids about my favorite sport!"

Olin Eaves


  • Olin was a tumbler and a cheerleader throughout high school and college.  He has coached competitive gymnastics since 2004.

  • "Childhood is the most critical part of our lives, especially in terms of developing good exercise habits at an early age.  Gymnastics is the best sport there is, and I hope to share my enthusiasm for it with all of my students."

  • Olin currently coaches Boys Team, as well as Tumbling, Introductory and Developmental Classes.

  • Olin is our Boys Program Coordinator.

Shannon Edwards


  • Shannon currently coaches the our advanced, introductory and lower levels.

Katie Klein


  • Katie coaches our advanced, introductory and lower levels and is our Preschool Program Coordinator.

  • Katie started gymnastics at age 12, and was a gymnast and cheerleader until she graduated from Granite Hills High School.

  • Katie says, "I feel so at home when I am in the gym, and I cannot express how excited I am to be a part of the Elite staff. It is a true joy to see young individuals passionate about this sport, and even better that I can be a part of accomplishing their gymnastics goals."

Alyssa Hashiguchi


  • Alyssa coaches our advanced, introductory and lower level classes.

  • Alyssa was a gymnast for 14 years and she trained up to Level 9 competing at Aztecs, TRC and then the Cameron Family YMCA.

  • She attended Ball State University were she was on the gymnastics team for one year.

  • She graduated with a BS in Exercise Science.

Becca Hannibal


  • Becca was a Level 10 gymnast at Elite.

  • Becca coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

  • Becca is almost finished getting her AA with emphasis in lifelong health and fitness.

  • Becca enjoys, surfing.

  • Becca was the 2008 Women's Level 7 State Champion (14).

  • Becca placed 3rd on Bars at the 2009 Region 1 Championships Level 8 (15)

  • Becca placed 2nd on Bars at the 2010 Southern California State Championships for Level 9

  • She was a 2011 Western National Championship Team Member for Region 1.

  • Becca says, "Gymnastics has been a big part of my life and my passion for 15 years. Competing and learning new skills has always been so exciting for me. Now I'm excited to help other kids pursue their passion in gymnastics. I am so happy that I still get to be a part of the Elite family, and I couldn't ask for a better environment for the best sport in the world."

Nique Vargas


  • Nique currently coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

  • She has done gymnastics since she was 8 years old.

  • Nique competed on Varsity for Santana High School.

  • She is currently a Senior at Grossmont Middle College High School.

Tiffanie Castaneda


  • Tiffanie currently coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

  • She was a competitive gymnast for about 6 years at American Elite Gymnastics in Woodvillage, Oregon.

  • After an injury she started coaching a classes at Northwest Gymnastics Training Center in Gresham, Oregon.

  • Tiffanie graduated high school and was offered a scholarship for Pole Vaulting at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon, where she went on to being an All-American.

  • Tiffanie says, "Since graduating from Warner I have expanded my knowledge and comfortably by taking on bigger challenges in coaching. I have been able to help out with compulsory and optional levels, Xcel athletes, compulsory boys, tumbling, and even choreographing floor routines. My passion in life has been, and continues to be, learning new and creative ways of being a better coach."

Alisyn Robertson


  • Alisyn currently coaches the lower level boys program.

  • She competed through Level 7 at Aerials Gymnastics in Vacaville, CA.

  • She started coaching in 2005.

  • Alisyn went to CSU Chico and coached at Athletic Horizons Gymnastics Center

  • She is very excited to be in San Diego and continuing to do what she loves coaching.

Erin Jasso


  • Erin currently coaches lower level, introductory classes.

  • She took gymnastics for 7 years when she was younger and always regretted leaving the gymnastics world. Erin is thrilled to be back and even more excited that she is a coach this time around.

  • Erin is currently a student at San Diego State University working on her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies in order to become an elementary school teacher.

Maddison Ingalls


  • Maddison currently coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

  • Maddison was a gymnast at a young age and stopped gymnastics to pursue dance.

  • Maddison did gymnastics and danced for 5 years in total.

  • She is a High School student with a 4.5 GPA who is passionate about the medical field and sports medicine.

  • In addition to school, she is also involved with many volunteer programs

  • She is a Varsity Track Athlete at Granite Hills High School

  • Maddison has prior experience coaching sports teams, she coached soccer for 3 years

Breeann Miller


  • Breeann currently coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

  • She was a static trapeze artist with the Fern Street Circus at age 6.

  • Breeann began dancing at 8 and was a cross country runner throughout high school.

  • She started coaching gymnastics and loved it, left to start a family.

  • Breeann says, "Now that my kids are a little older I'm glad to be back, I have missed the gym so much."

  • She is currently working on a nursing degree.

Quentin Bordeaux


  • Quentin currently coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

  • He currently attends both San Diego City College and San Diego Mesa College.

  • He is majoring in Physics and minoring in French. He plans to travel a lot and study different cultures in the future.

  • He has a deep passion for the sciences, especially Physics and Astronomy.

  • He trains in Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu.

  • He has always been interested in the sport of gymnastics but has not had the funds or support to do so, because of that, he has trained himself.

  • Quentin says, "I strive to be as familiar with my body and my abilities so that I will be capable of being a good teacher."

Stephanie Mathews


  • Stephanie currently coaches the lower level, introductory classes.

Genevieve Perez


  • Genevieve is our Level 3 + Competitive Team Ballet Instructor.

  • She is a San Diego native, and started dancing when she was 2 1/2 years old.

  • Genevieve has danced professionally for over 30 years.

  • She competed nationally in Hula and Tahitian for 8 years.

  • Genevieve is trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Pointe, Dunham, Tahitian, Hula and Gymnastics.

  • She trained at some of the top dance academy's including Alonzo King's, LINES Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center, California Ballet, Debbie Reynolds Studios, EDGE, Hama Dance Center, Millennium, Shawl Anderson Dance Center, STEPS, and Westside Academy of Ballet. And, has toured and performed all over New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and the San Diego area.

  • She has received numerous awards and scholarships throughout the years but her greatest lessons in dance came from dancing on a full scholarship at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York. She's learned from some of the most prestigious dance masters (David Howard,Joan Peters, Denise Jefferson,Deborah Brockus) that solid technique and passion for dance makes you a true artist.

  • Genevieve believes that ballet is very instrumental for skill enhancement in all areas of gymnastics. It helps with flexibility, musicality, core control and coordination. She has a 10 year old son who is a 2 year consecutive Spelling Bee Champion and plays tennis. Her 4 year old daughter competes in dance and gymnastics and loves to perform. She also have a very energetic 2 year old son.

  • She continues to choreograph for dance shows and competitions and currently rehearsing to compete in the Argentine Tango.

Carol Brackett


  • Carol currently works at our Front Desk.

  • Carol is a San Diego Native and volunteer at the San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation.

  • She has strong family values and enjoys spending time with her nieces, nephews and her two kittens.

  • Carol says, "Elite the staff and its members are my extended family. It is such a great place to work."

Nicoll Nieto


  • Nicoll currently works at our Front Desk.

  • Nicoll grew up, being active in gymnastics and cheer.

  • Native of Santee, second graduating class of West Hills High School.

  • Nicoll attended Grossmont College and received certificates in Medical Office Typing/Insurance Billing and Transcription.

  • She is now a proud mother of 2 teenage boys and one spunky 4 year old little girl, Nicoll spends her time volunteering, as a room parent, on field trips, for carnivals, for school breakfast club, team parent, taxi, etc.

  • In her spare time she enjoys scrapbooking, knitting, making crafts and spending time with her family.

  • Nicoll is a Disneyland fanatic!.

Taylor Tulloch


  • Taylor currently works at our Front Desk.

  • She grew up in Santee and graduated from West Hills High School.

  • Taylor is currently attending Grossmont College and plans to become a pediatric nurse.

  • She values her family and loves to spend time with them.

  • She is crafty and loves finding new things to make. 

Paula McCalester


  • Paula is Elite's Web Master, Advertising and Marketing person and the Community Outreach Coordinator. She is seen working at the front desk and in the gym with her four girls.

  • Paula competed track and cross country through College and did High School gymnastics. Her daughter Bianca is a Level 9 Gymnast. Her twins are both Level 3 & 4 and her youngest is Level 2.

  • "Elite is our extended family and so much a part of our life. I think how blessed we are to work, play, form friendships, and be part of this special place."

Jr. Coach Ally


  • Ally is a current Elite Gymnastics Academy Gymnast.

  • She is a Level 10 gymnast.

  • She is a Jr. Coach that trains in the lower level classes and can be see at camps, PNO's and in class.

  • She is an honors student and gets straight A's.

  • Ally was 3rd AA in the 2009 Level 7 SoCal State Championships.

  • In 2011 she was 3rd on floor at the Region 1 Championships for Level 8.

  • In 2012 Ally was a Team Member on the Western National Championship Level 9 Region 1 Team.

  • Ally is attending USD.

Jr. Coach Bianca


    • Bianca is a current Elite Gymnastics Academy Gymnast.

    • She is a Level 9 gymnast. She is a Sophmore in High School.

    • Bianca can be seen helping at camps, and around the gym.

    • Bianca speaks German, enjoys photography, baking, and animals. She is currently learning Mandarin.

    • She volunteers during the year Serving Seniors at The Salvation Army and The Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center. She also volunteers at various animal rescue/shelters throughout the year.

    • Beam and Bars are her favorite.
