Girl's Optional Level Team Classes at Elite
Optional Level
gymnastics includes Levels 7, 8, 9, and 10. The Optional Level Team is for
girls who have progressed up from the Compulsory Levels. Current
practice hours for the Optional Level Team are listed above.
Level 7 Team is a ‘bridge’
between compulsory and optional competition. Selection to this group of girls
is by progression from Level 6 and is based on skill level, competition scores,
and attendance. Emphasis is placed on strength, flexibility, perfecting the
Level 7 optional routines, and learning the Level 8 competition skills.
Competitions begin in December and continue through April, but Invitationals
will be entered throughout the year. Competition involves travel both within
and outside California. Level 7 gymnasts compete in the California State
Championships if they attain the qualifying score (determined annually by the
State committee) during the regular season. Level 7 gymnasts are evaluated
periodically throughout the year to determine their readiness to progress to
Level 8.
Level Eight, Nine, and
Ten Teams Optional competition (individually choreographed routines) is included at
all of these levels. Selection to this group is by progression from the
previous level and is based on skill level, competition scores, and attendance.
Competitions begin in December and continue through May, but Invitationals will
be entered throughout the year. Competition involves travel both within and
outside California, including the possibility of International competitions.
California State Championships, Regionals, Western Nationals (Level 9 only), and
Junior Olympic Nationals (Level 10 only) are all possible competitions for
gymnasts of these levels who are able to attain the qualifying scores. Optional
Level Team gymnasts are evaluated periodically throughout the year to determine
their readiness to progress to the next level.

What should the students wear?
Girls are required wear a leotard and spandex shorts/leggings may be worn as

What happens if I miss a class? We
have a very liberal make up policy at Elite. Missed Optional Level workouts can be
made up during any of our Advanced Tumbling Classes or the Adult class.
Make ups must be completed within one
month of the class that was missed. We ask that you call ahead for a make up to
ensure that we have enough staff on hand.
